Trying out my new camera lens...

I was trying out my new lens Christmas afternoon. I've got to learn so much more, and I can't wait to take a real DSLR class for beginners so I can work on technique, etc. I'm excited because I'm taking it with my friend, Sarah, who also loves photography. I think we'll have so much fun learning together! Here are a few from the day...all of Kate outside, of course!

Kate on Christmas

There's always a story behind a picture.....this one goes a little like this. My kiddo McGiggle's went to visit Kate last weekend in Texas. While playing in the room, Kate's little timer to brush her teeth was broken. However, it wasn't broken on the outside, it was just broken on the inside. I wasn't there, but it was pretty sad. Kate was upset, and McGiggle's was upset about breaking Kate's toy. Flash forward. McGiggle's worker came to visit her and they played Jenga. This game makes them talk..and McGiggle's pulled out the block that said "Name the last time you were sad" and she told the story about breaking Kate's toy. She went to her bathroom and got it out and told us she would give it to Kate for Christmas so Kate would have one now. Then, she wrapped it up and put it under the tree all by herself. So, here's Kate with her little timer for brusing her teeth.

My brother said "Kate, I think that's the most thoughtful gift so far." It was really sweet and she told McGiggle's thank you and hugged her too. They do love each other.

This one is of my budding photographer. She took pictures with my old PowerShot. She had soo much fun!

Through Kate's eyes...

Before I put some of my pictures up, I thought I'd show you what Kate took. Actually, this is just 4 of 76. They were sooo funny. Most of them were blurry because she moved so fast after she clicked the button. It was fun though, just handing her my old PowerShot and letting her take pictures. She walked around until the batteries had about died and told everyone and everything to "say cheese". If we'd just smile, she'd yell again "Say Cheese Emmy". It was GREAT.

Happy Birthday Will

My precious nephew turned 2! I can't believe it. My precious first nephew...soon to be one of two nephews! I'm going to be an Aunt for the third time in late March to Andrew. But, really.... being an Aunt is the best thing. I'm sure once I have my own children, that will change....but for now...I'm SOAKING it up. I love it. And, once McGiggle's leaves for her adoptive home, I'll be visiting Texas as much as possible!

I think his favorite part was hearing Happy Birthday sung to him.

He's sooooo happy!

Innocent....with a chocolate nose.

Brrr....this is Will's cold impression!

Last but not least, the two of us. He's now into taking pictures ALL the time. I really like it!

Ice Storm 2007

My shots from the ice storm this past week. We were lucky. We didn't lose power, and I'm so thankful for that. Especially since my mom's was out all week and she stayed here with us. It was nice. And, I learned my new couch isn't too uncomfortable to sleep on for a night or two or three!

I've still got friends without electricity, and families that I work for as well. I hope it comes on soooooooooon.
