Friends Forever

Hopping down the bunny trail..

Here are a few of Kate. She had a lot of fun this time! It's a fun age...she'll be three at the end of April. Kate hunted for eggs twice, once with Aunt Ilze and Aunt Emily and then a second time with Uncle Taylor, Uncle Taylor's girlfriend Taylor, Aunt Ilze, and Aunt Emily again. Kate had loads of fun, as you see below!

Here comes Peter Cottontail...

Will's first little Easter Egg Hunt. Yes, it's technically early, but he is too young to know better! They are in town for the week and this was the first of many photo opportunities for my new toy! It was great taking snapshots and occasionally I'd try to pose the kids....here are a few of my favorites of Will. He looks like such a little man. He's getting too old too soon...he's a favorite.

yeah, i fell for it...

Photography. It's an amazing thing. A good photograph is worth so much...it brings back memories, creates emotions, and allows one to remember key moments or periods in one's life. I've become the family photographer since my brother had the first child. I've been photographing Kate and Will at all family events. I've only had a little Canon Digital Point and Shoot, but I finally decided to make the $$$ plunge to buy a new Digital SLR. I'm soooo excited. I went ahead and decided on the Canon Digital Rebel XT and I love it! I'm looking forward to taking a photography class, read a few books, and work on improving a hobby that I've come to enjoy thoroughly!

Nicaragua: Day 7

We finished the medical mission for the week. It was a fabulous experience, and I think we all had a great time. We drove back to Managua this day. We toured a coffee factory and did a ZipLine over a crater lake outside of Managua. It was soooooooo much fun! We settled in a very nice hotel for the last night, packed up everything, and flew home on Saturday. Everything went so well, and we had a great time. I'm so fortunate that I had the opportunity to go.

Coffee Tasting....

Raking the coffee beans...

ZipLine.....a mile long..three stopping stations. FUN FUN FUN

The view from the ZipLine looking over Lake Managua.

The hotel we stayed in..we didn't swim. I went to bed!

It was a wonderful time...hopefully the pictures are able to tell a short story.

Nicaragua: Day 6 (Part B)

A hand-made clay oven for cooking.

A little kid sitting on the front porch...

Jim was our team leader, and here he is with Braulio. Braulio was one of our interpreters, as well as Elisa and Raphael. They were great. I wish I had a good picture of all of them. Braulio was their interpreter last year too.

A little boy around the school.

Cute kids climbing in the trees.

Nicaragua: Day 6 (Part A)

Last day of medical mission service. We went to a small village outside of Matagalpa. We worked at the local school and families walked for hours for medical care. Here are a few pictures of the people of Nicaragua waiting, waiting, and waiting.

This is a picture of Braulio explaining the medicine and the extra stuff we provided. Here he's giving them a toothbrush.

This is the family getting the toothbrushes.

Nicaragua: Day 5 (Part C)

More pictures of beautiful children...

Nicaragua: Day 5 (Part B)

Pictures of the children... beautiful children.

Nicaragua: Day 5 (Part A)

Wednesday was spent at a rather poor barrio outside of Matagalpa. Here are a few from that day.

This is a town picture taken looking down the street.

An example of a very nice house in Esperanza.

Having Dr. Richard there to adjust us was a blessing. He was adjusting our bus driver, Henry, here. Braulio was interpreting for Henry too. Henry felt much better after the alignment.

Before we left, we purchased a 4x8 foot whiteboard for the school. It was only about $40, however, in the U.S. it would have exceeded $500. It was a nice blessing to do something extra for the school.

Here's the small internet cafe in Matagalpa. I had the chance to call my dad and talk to him here, and then I also was able to send out a few emails to those back home. It was very cool having the chance to do that!

Nicaragua: Day 4

Tuesday was spent in the town of Matagalpa at the local police clinic. We provided medical here as well.

This is a picture of the pharmacy setup we used. We had individual bags labeled for the types of medicine that included our pre-counted, pre-sorted, and pre-labeled medication. However, we also had the ability to mix some medicines for the kids as well as give any soap, shampoo, or things like that to the families. It was fun. Lots of fun.

One of the most common fun things was to make glove balloons for the kids with decorations. Here's an example of one!

This clinic had a great setup for the dentist, as evidenced by a real dental chair. And, their room was AIR CONDITIONED!!!!!

Emily and Alison...she was adorable and kissed everyone good bye. The people were so thankful and they always shook our hands.

Alison again, with her lovely sunglasses.
