First Ever Family Session....

A friend of mine asked for me to take family pictures for her.....and I happily agreed to do so. She offered to pay me to do it and I told her "no way" because I can't guarantee anything. I had such a great time with this family, and learned a lot. It was fun using my new camera and getting to learn about doing a session and how to make it best work. Here are four straight out of the camera images. I haven't quite figured out RAW and photoshop yet, so I'm just posting the ones I liked as is. I think I took a total of 200 pictures and probably had 40-50 good ones. I hope they enjoy them....they haven't had a family picture taken since their youngest was a baby.

After much ado, here's my first work.....still have lots to learn.

Little miss three year old and proud....

They love each other...

sometimes...

Sometimes it feels like nothing goes well. This week has been that way for me. You name it, it went wrong. Every day something wasn't right. Every day something could have been done differently. I thought today was going to be better, but as the day went on I felt more and more stressed and then culminated with a phone conversation with the new home where my old foster child is placed. It just ended poorly.

Work's crazy. Things are changing. Big time. I'm up for it, but it will be a challenge. However, on the bright side of things I got lucky enough to be assigned a cool little tablet laptop for work! That was a good thing (the sunshine for me today.)

Little one misses me. Each time we talk she wants to know when she gets to move back with me and why can't I just adopt her. That kills me. It crushes my spirit. It's so hard to hear. She's counting down the days until we get to see each other. I miss her. I miss her a lot. It's tough. I never even thought it would hit me THIS hard.
Hopefully, with time, things will get better. But, I'm still pretty tearful and tonight was one of those nights I just really missed having her around.

So, the BEST part of my week is this

I made a huge decision and bought a new camera. I can't wait to get it out and experiment with it this weekend. It should be a fun time and I'm looking forward to it a lot. Like I said, this week's been crazy. I've been doing stuff each night and taking it easy...but Saturday is the day I'm starting to play around with it. And, Sunday, I'm going to try to shoot some pictures for a friend and her family at Woodward Park. I hope I get at least 1 good family picture for them....they haven't had one since their youngest was born (4 years ago!)

Anyhow, I'm doing alright...I'll be okay, but I'm just on the bummed side of life right now. Please tell me this road of chaos will get better soon.

me...

Ok...so because it's my blog....I'm putting more pictures up of me. I know, it's kind of weird. However, it's Aunt Emily's adventures...and I'm Aunt Emily. Since I don't have other people to post about all the time, I figured I'd just show you some fav shots Sarah took of me yesterday in downtown! I (heart) them!

Bend and Snap

To get some of my favorite shots of Sarah, in the below post, I had to stradle myself between two trains up high to capture the image I had imagined. It worked, but it was a feat in itself. Sarah then took my camera and turned the lens on me...funny Emily. The one of my close-up facial expression is me impersonating the lady from Legally Blonde "Bend, and Snap"! It was hilarious..which is why I was smiling so big...because I was laughing. And, if you know me...I laugh a lot!

Here's a few of me to see what we did today! Fun times!

Busy Week...

Last week flew by.....and it's already Monday night.

I'm watching the NCAA Championship Game right now, and I'm hoping Kansas wins...because I like Bill Self. I'm also anxiously waiting to see if OSU tries to pay him millions to pull him away from KU to coach at his alma mater, which happens to also be my alma mater, of OSU! I'd love it if he came to coach at OSU, but I don't know that it will happen...there's always hope though!

Last week was fun. I went to the coffee shop with my friends two nights in a row, stayed out late both nights, heard some great music, and had a good time both nights. It's always fun to get away from the stress of work, and to not be at home where I have to clean or do laundry! Fun times.

I had my photography class on Thursday, which was good (as always), and then I babysat Friday night, Saturday during the day, took a nap, and then babysat Saturday night too. Sunday I went to church, had lunch with the family, attended a fun jewelry party, and then got busy with laundry and cleaning (much needed, I must add!)

Then, last night...the headache came back. It's been awhile since I've had a headache, but I think I missed a few nights of my Topamax this past week because I was out late and just came home and crawled in bed....so this morning I felt miserable..and it didn't really subside until about 5:30. But, it's gone and I should be all better tomorrow for work! YEAH! (You can hear the sarcasm, can't you!)

Work is stressful, it's probably the most stressful thing in my life at the moment. Things must get better, and I hope they do. I see some changes in the future that will only help me feel better, but for now, I'm still quite stressed and it stinks to feel that stressed out. I think it's time to schedule another massage!

Anyhow, I've started babysitting again...through the agency Seeking Sitters! I worked for them two years ago when they first started and then I took a break. I recently came back and they have GROWN LIKE CRAZY! They are so glad to have me back, as I am glad to be back. So, if you read my blog and need a sitter, holler at me. If you use them, request me, and if you don't use them, just ask me. I love to babysit. I'm fun, I've got a great track record, and I'm the perfect sitter for your children.

Anyways...it's now 10:41 and I must get to bed. I'm tired and worn out. Tomorrow's a big day at work.
