Win A Nintendo Wii

Ultra-runner Tim Borland is running 63 marathons in 63 days in order to raise funds and awareness for the A-T Children’s Project in their quest for a cure or life-improving therapies for ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T). A-T is a rare, neurodegenerative disease that affects children, giving them the combined symptoms of cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, and cancer. Children with A-T — born seemingly healthy — are usually dependent upon wheelchairs by the age of 10 and often do not survive their teens.

To run with Tim, join a tailgate party, or make a donation, please visit the A-T CureTour website. There, you can also view the daily video blog produced by filmmakers who are making an independent documentary on the A-T CureTour and enter a contest to Win a Nintendo Wii.

Last Hoo-Rah!

Off we were to the Markes farm south of Enid. A great place to end the weekend of fun, memories, laughter, tears (from laughing so much) and seeing those people that were important parts of our lives. What a great weekend...I couldn't have asked for it to be better. It was truly a wonderful weekend of great memories for me.

We ended the evening with two guitars, many voices, and forgotten lyrics (after a few glasses of wine and glasses of beer.) What a wonderful, perfect reunion!

High School Tour and Picnic

My how buildings change...we toured the High School and followed up with a picnic at Government Springs Park. Many of us ate Pak-A-Sak....(good greasy burgers with fried onions)!

Ten Years

Ten years....a decade. My how time flies!

This weekend, many of us ventured back to good ol' Enid, America for Enid High School's Class of 1997 Reunion! Oh, what fun we had. Honestly, it was a little sad to leave and head back home. People came from Oregon, Texas, Colorado, New Jersey, Virginia, Iraq, and of course Oklahoma too. We had such a great time.

Reunion's are interesting...a different kind of social gathering. It's somewhat the same...but yet different. It's great. I had a fabulous time and was able to find out what some really cool people have done with their lives and what they planned to do with their lives. Some had children, some were expecting (a lot), some were married, some were single (like me...thank goodness I wasn't the only one).

These are a few snapshots from the Friday night event. We met at the Knox Building in Enid that is home to the Enid Symphony. It was a beautiful building...I should have taken some pictures of the hall. It was beautiful. Chocolate fountain, good food, beer and wine too!

Anyhow...I'm home now and I LOVED it. Definitely good times!

Summer Fun 2007

It has been ten years since I've been out on my Dad's boat with the family. I've been wanting to go for a long time, and it finally happened. However, this time we had Ilze, Taylor, and little McGiggles with us. What a fun time we had.

Ilze was walking down the ramp with McGiggles on the way to the boat. By the way, she's never done anything like this before. She had so much fun...and let me just say NO FEAR!

This is Ilze, McGiggles and myself on the raft. It made me have a headache and it was quite a bumpy ride. But, indeed, it was too much fun.

This is Taylor...a little dark, but it's Taylor. Almost 16.

And this one is me...happy to be at the lake. Fun times. Having McGiggles had also made me more tan this summer than I have been in years past. It's sort of nice. I love swimming, so we swim about everyday!

Last but not least....McGiggles, Ilze and Taylor riding the tube into the sunset. I LOVE sunsets and sunrises...this time it was sunset!

McGiggles had a great time. She loved it. Wants to go back, and I think we will over Labor Day weekend. That time, I'm planning on getting the waterskii's out and trying that again!

Fun times.

What I've been up to lately...

Well, I've got the little one here, and I've come up with a name for her for now. It works for a part of her personality...but I'm still missing the hyperactivity part. McGiggles is it. You know, McDreamy, McSteamy...I've got my own McGiggles. So, here she is...you won't see her beautiful face on here, but she's jumping with Taylor on the trampoline below. We were at my cousin's house for the July birthday celebrations....and enjoyed ourselves! Such a wonderful time!

This one is McGiggles helping Cohen with his Elmo bike...I'm not sure what they were doing.....

And, last but not least. She wanted to wear the Elmo costume and was looking at herself in the mirror with my little sister Ilze, who also celebrated her Sweet Sixteen this past Tuesday, July 24th!

Life has been busy. I've been planning her birthday celebration and have posts on the other page with more details about that life...and, my great friend Peter came to visit me this past week. Well, he was in town and was able to hang with the family for the night. What a blast. Such a great friend, I'm so blessed to have had him in my life.

Cousins...

Katy, Ryan, Taylor, Emily, LeeAnn

My cousin, Ryan, was married yesterday. Here's just one picture that I posted so far...these are the cousins on my dad's side of the family, minus two, my older brother Robert and my little sister Ilze. We missed those who weren't there, but we had a good time!

More to come tomorrow or the next few days!

Loss is hard....

Rita L. Hardman Pinkley

It was a very sad day last week when I learned of this sad news. Rita is a phenomenal woman. She is THE reason so many families are able to have children. I'm a lucky person that was allowed the gift of having a younger brother and sister adopted from an international country. Rita was the Director and the biggest part of the Baltic Blessings Adoption Agency out of Washington State. She is the reason Ilze is here. She is the reason Taylor is here. It is sad to have her gone, at such a young age. I hope that each child she brought over here will remember her and take a piece of her heart with them wherever they go.

What amazes me, is that after my brother has been here for 12 years, he decided to go to the funeral in Seattle yesterday. He is 15, going on 27, but 15 nonetheless. They asked for a child to speak at the service, and Taylor volunteered. I wasn't there, but I'm sure that he spoke from his heart and had profound things to say for a 15 year old. I wish I could have been there. I think he has a good perspective. I think they all do, I would imagine.

May God bless Rita forever, and take care of her family here on this Earth. She did wonderful things. I hope we can take her dreams and make them last forever. God bless you Rita for all you do. We love you and miss you already.

Wildflowers

Wildflowers on the side of the road....

Waterfalls...

A few snapshots of a small little place in the middle of nowhere Creek County. This is off the beaten path, about 3 miles west of Highway 97 that connects Sapulpa to Sand Springs. It's Pretty Water Lake that goes over a small waterfall/spillway into Lake Sahoma. It's beautiful. It's nestled in hills, quiet, quaint, and a nice getaway. I'll take some walks there and will take kids there and will play at the park. If only I liked to fish...

Oklahoma Sunsets

I love sunsets in Oklahoma. I love sunsets anywhere, but the skies of Oklahoma can be multi-colored blues, reds, pinks, oranges, grays, yellow's, and even green's. Beautiful sunsets. Here's a view of tonight's sunset out by my place. I took some snapshots on a walk with Wally overlooking the fence on the west side of the property. How beautiful it would be to face the west and see the sun setting every day...although it's rained so much the last month I don't think you could have seen the sunset very often. Anyhow....here are a few of the snapshots.
